Short Description: What Shiraz Grapes Taste Like!
This wine is a variation on the usual “port” styles we make in Australia. It is made from very ripe Shiraz grapes that are allowed to only part ferment before adding a dose of alcohol. This kills the yeast and stops the ferment (all pretty normal to this point). This would usually be blended into a barrel with several other vintages and allowed to age for a few years. We tasted it and bought it to bottle straight away.
It is a blast of flavour from rich ripe fruit all fresh from 2008. So what you can taste is Shiraz Grape juice with a hit of 18 % alcohol.
Tip it over ice cream , make a slushie with crushed ice, or sip it with coffee and chocolate cake.
