Colombard is not often labeled by its variety, usually disappearing into the great dry white wine lake and is often distilled to make brandy spirit. Winemakers are finally discovering that treated well it produces quite a nice dry white style and when you blend in enough Chardonnay to be able to tack it onto the name to make it sound trendy, people will even buy it and enjoy it more than once. This might be priced like a cooking wine but be surprised and drink some before you tip it all in the pot. It’s well made with some light green citrus hints like lime and grapefruit and perhaps a bit of green melon also.
